Conservation and Management of Pollination in Pakistan
A Project entitled “Conservation and Management of Pollination for Sustainable Agriculture through Ecosystem Approach” has been initiated in Pakistan for the establishment of an International initiative for the conservation and sustainable use of pollinators. The International Community has identified the importance of pollination, In this context this project has been launched simultaneously in Brazil, Ghana, India, Kenya, Nepal, Pakistan and South Africa.
Pollination Research in Pakistan Due to significance of pollinators, and to document the work conducted in Pakistan, a bibliography is published by Irshad et al. This compilation shows about 95 research publications 21 and 22 theses of M.Sc and Ph.D respectively and 4 reports. The work has been conducted on identification of pollinators on alfalfa cucumber rape and mustered, onion, cotton, cauliflower, radish, citrus, sunflower, gravia (falsa), almond, sesame, apricot, fennel, eriobotrya (loquat), apple and mango, effect of insecticides and rearing of honey bees.
